A week on since the most recent upgrades, and what I’m noticing.
Ride comfort and noise.
The ride is so much more comfortable. Where I used to feel body roll, now I feel a road hugging drive. Road noise coming off the tyres is no different to that front the highway terrains ( standard wheels). In saying that, I mean I don’t have any extra noise and the ride was pretty quiet then. It could have something to with the snorkel mounted by the drivers window. But I also hear other tyres making the typical road noise of all terrains or muddies.
The big query is... fuel.
And although I haven’t towed yet, I’ll be honest, I’m kind of dreading it. Fuel economy has dropped. Without towing, the Triton now is a lot thirstier, despite feeling smoother. I’m noticing I can’t, no matter how down hill the slope I’m driving on is, get the fuel consumption below 10 litres. And on average, I’d say it sits around 12 litres per 100 k’s.
I will wait until I have to fill up again to run a more accurate measure, litres used versus k’s driven. However, I know this won’t be a true indication, as I’ve been driving a little less fuel conscious at times, accelerating harder, etc, given I now know that I’m not going to run out of fue for a while.
Will let you all know when the Triton finally does tow, what the fuel consumption is like, however, I’m tipping it will be closer to 15-16 litres now.
