40+ degree outside temperature, even hotter temps coming off the black top, long drive hauling a bit of a load on boost - its hot outside, so you have the A/C cranked to the max.
Wouldn't take long at all for the engine and turbo to generate some crazy heat under the bonnet. A scoop or vent would help remove some of that heat when moving and even more so once you reach your destination and finally pull up for the day.
I have seen more times than I care to remember people pulling up after a big run in our summer (pre-wet) only to jump out and pop their bonnets to let all of the accumulated heat out. Some are that hot you can actually see the heat shimmer (or whatever it is called).
I wouldnt put one on my 4x4, but I can see why some people would.
