On a long, hard uphill climb in 4th full throttle the highest I've seen while towing 2 tonnes is 510 degrees C.
At idle it will drop back to 175 C and at 60km/h wont exceed 275-300 C.
Measured at the dump pipe a couple of inches from the turbo outlet.

Was that pre- or post-exhaust LR?
Reason I ask is, the last time I was fully loaded and towing a 1.5T box trailer, my EGT's were getting up around the 600-650deg mark (677 highest recorded) on a big uphill. The Chip-It did it's thing and dropped the tune as soon as it hit 650, but it's not fun watching the EGT's climb without being able to really do anything (was already in 4th at full throttle, full boost).
Has anyone actually done comparison readings between the standard and aftermarket exhaust to see just how much of a cooling effect there is? I know it goes without saying that a larger exhaust means faster flow and therefore quicker heat dissipation, but confirmed readings would be helpful to know just how much of a difference it makes.

I run a 2-3/4" S/S Beaudesert exhaust Fraz. Thermocouple probe is a couple of inches from the turbo outlet (as above).
A bigger diameter exhaust will drop EGT's no question.

Not sure if you can assist but I have EGT sensor and when traveling at 110klms on freeway it easily runs to 625degrees so I backed the set point back to 575 to kill Chip and restart at 500 degrees. As you can guess this cuts in and out which is a pain in the ar...... I have a tune 5 loaded which is direct from the installer. Should I drop back to drop temperatures. Thanks for any advice

Could this be due to no cat?
