Postby Bds2710 on Mon Jun 17, 2013 8:10 pm

Hi thinking about getting some black wheels to go with my white triton just seeing if I should get alloys or steelies
And if people can post pics of there black wheels that would be helpful as well

I've moved this post into the tyres and wheels section http://www.newtriton.net/phpbb/viewforum.php?f=36

Might be a good idea to have a browse through threads in that area looking for good info and pics.

Plenty of previous discussions on alloy vs steelies. Both have their advantages and disadvantages. My personal view is that alloys win the argument for everything but price, but others might disagree (and be wrong  ).

There was a recent post about a company that was doing custom rims - you specify the offset and PCD and they make them up to suit. Their price and range was pretty good too.

Don't paint them (unless done professionally), powder coat them. Cheap and very tough finish. Should cost you between $60 and $70 per wheel.

Tyres are a lot cheaper to buy when you have 16's.

I'll go the other way and say 17s. There used to be a bigger difference between the two but there are quite a few 17 inch 4wd tyres available now. 16's can look smaller when they get dwarfed by big rubber around them.

I have 16's and like the higher profile rubber. I believe you may get more balloning and flex in the sidewall from the 16's vs 17's for the same overall diameter tyre.
