Very slow throttle response

Postby Wylie5 on Thu Dec 29, 2016 11:53 am

Have a 2010 mn 2.5 CR, D/Cab, was on my way away when it went into limp mode, got it to dealer they said throttle body had shit it self $1400 for new one, went to wrecker got second hand one, still same problem.

just before l was going away, l removed inlet manafold, cleaned it put it all back, but now l have very little throttle it has a Huge dead spot about mid way, it will rev up, but take a lot of effort, l have pulled apart and sprayed all the plugs, done map sen as well.

Just wondering if it might be something else, any tips advice would be great, been working on this for three days now.

Regards Andrew.

Have been through searched, and read different threads but not been able to find it.

You've probably already ticked this off but since you didn't mention it... have you checked all hoses/piping related to the turbo and intercooler?

Checked turbo geometry actuator vacuum hoses? The ones going across the front of the rocker cover were split on my MN. Also check the hose is pushed onto the nipple on the actuator on the bottom of the turbo.

Sorry for not coming back any sooner, but after l sprayed the plugs, Engine check light went out, So as the ute was loaded, l went for bit of a drive, bit sluggish at start but then thing went well, woke up this morning would not rev over 1800 rpm in limp mode again, got spray can out sprayed each connection, then tryed each one until l found the one.
Their is a sencer just under the radiator on the motor side, l spray it, the thing goes again. ?
Phillipj: the small hose under turbo, have removed it and checked that all good
Big jobs: have checked have run my hand over them, all tight seam good.

Just pull large hose of from throttle body, seams to be a lot of oil coming into the throttle body from intercooler, l do not run a catch can yet but think l will.

Phillpj,
After checking the actuator line l pushed it on a bit further, and the engine light went out, and away l went, only got to Lake Buffalo, and the thing shit it self again. Camped their for a few days, but when l pulled the small vacuum line off and restarted it, l put the throttled down and off it went, until l was 10 km from home then it went back to limp mode, l pulled the vacuum hose of and this time nothing.
Regards Andrew.

The turbo actuator operated by that vacuum line is quite "active", even just off idle. Have someone gently open the throttle and check for response.

Also check that the actuator itself isn't jammed. I suspect this was part of the issues a friend had with their Challenger.

The device that controls the vacuum is located front left of the cylinder head, just follow the little vacuum line.

Just had RACV to log on to it with code reader, had 19 errors from crank angle to fuel pressure, all cleared will see how if goes.
